5. The Matching Process

Bahama Match uses a proprietary matching process to identify potential compatibility between registered participants. This process may involve:

  • proprietary matching tools or algorithms;
  • manual review by Bahama Match personnel or approved representatives; or
  • a combination of automated and manual review.

Profile information, questionnaire responses, preferences, photographs, and related participant data are processed through this matching system to support participant review, invitations to proceed to payment, event balance and logistical planning, match suggestions, structured introductions, and event programming decisions.

A participant will only be invited to proceed to payment if the system identifies at least two (2) potentially compatible matches within the current registration pool. Final participation or invitation decisions may also take into account operational, safety, capacity, and event-balance considerations.

Matching-related processing does not guarantee any specific outcome, relationship, or level of compatibility. You have the right to request information about how automated processing applies to your profile and to raise concerns about automated decisions. See Section 10 (Your Rights and Choices) for more information.

6. Photo Disclosure Policy

Your profile photograph is treated with particular care:

  • Your photograph will not be visible to other participants during the registration phase.
  • Photos are disclosed only to your confirmed matched participants, and only after the full registration pool has been finalized.
  • Profile photos are used internally for matching administration and, where you have consented, may be used in promotional materials in accordance with Section 8.
  • Bahama Match staff and authorized administrators may access profile photographs for operational and verification purposes only.

You may request the deletion of your profile photograph at any time prior to finalization of the registration pool. After the pool is finalized and matches are disclosed, deletion requests will be honored prospectively and will not affect disclosures already made.

7. When We Share Personal Information

We do not sell participant personal data to third parties. We may disclose personal information only as reasonably necessary in the following circumstances:

A. With Matched Participants

Your profile photograph will be disclosed to your confirmed matched participants after the registration pool is finalized. Your personal contact information (email address, phone number) will not be shared with other participants without your express consent.

B. Service Providers and Vendors

We may share information with trusted third parties who help us operate Bahama Match, such as:

Where Bahama Match offers an approved written opt-out for certain promotional uses, we will make reasonable efforts to honor that request as described in the applicable event materials. Please note that an opt-out may not be feasible for crowd scenes, security footage, archival records, or other incidental captures, and does not apply to materials already produced prior to receipt of the request.

All participants are prohibited from photographing, recording, or filming other participants without their express consent, in accordance with the Code of Conduct in the Terms and Conditions.

9. International Processing and Cross-Border Transfers

If you believe your privacy rights have been violated, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority in your jurisdiction.
